Bedok Mall opened its doors yesterday so I decided to have a quick look today before the crowds descend at the weekend. Most of the shops are not yet open, and some of the shops have opened but are not yet fully stocked. I’d recommend holding off for a week or two before going there.
Nursing room location: B1
From the looks of it, this nursing room hasn’t been used before. It has two changing stations and a sink. There are more changing stations in the family toilets. More on those later.
There are two compartments for nursing. Both have padded seating, long enough for two people to sit. That was the only furnishing in the compartment.
For some strange reason, there is both a door and a curtain.
The decor inside is nice and cheery with pictures of animals on the walls.
Family toilet location: Level 1 (there are also family toilets in B1 and B2)
It was a nice surprise to find that there are family toilets on every level. These rooms consist of a regular toilet and sink, a child-size toilet, changing station, and baby seat. The changing station is a fold-down one with raised edges on each side to stop the baby from rolling off. The small toilet is great for young kids and I hope to bring M now that she has started potty training. There is also a baby seat where you place the baby whilst you use the toilet or help your other child go to the toilet. The door to the room is an electronic one but has a handy light to indicate whether the room is locked or not. My only gripes are that 1) there was no soap or even soap dispenser that I could see and 2) there is no small sink to accompany the toilet. However, overall, these rooms are much better than a lot of the other malls offerings.
There are a few shops that might be of interest to parents. Kiddy Palace has opened but it’s a fairly small store with a limited selection of toys. Tampines has a much bigger selection. I also noticed Fox Kids & Baby.
Edit 13/12/13: Just discovered that in the regular ladies toilets there are a few cubicles that also have the baby seats.
